Cheating in national examinations and curriculum change are expected to take centre stage during this year’s Kenya Secondary School Heads Association(KSSHA) annual conference which starts today in Mombasa.
Chairman John Awiti said the education sector is undergoing reforms which will be addressed at the forum attended by 7,000 headteachers. “We want to move in tandem with the Ministry of Education by so doing, we seek to understand what our new mandate will be in implementing the proposed curriculum,” said Awiti.
He said teachers will also discuss and propose recommendations on the 8-4-4 system. He added that they will interrogate a report made by the Parliamentary Committee on Education to seal gaps in the system before a final decision is made on the new curriculum. This year marks the 41st KSSHA edition with fierce debate expected between the association and KNEC.
