National Super Alliance (Nasa) National Campaign Committee chairman Musalia Mudavadi has accused the Jubilee Party leaders of attempting to whip up emotions of their supporters by re-introducing the International Criminal Court (ICC) cases.

He also disclosed that his Amani party was working on a strategy to lock Jubilee out of Western region. He blamed the Jubilee administration for allegedly frustrating the revival of projects such as Pan Paper Mills and Mumias Sugar Company.

Unlike in 2013, Mudavadi said Kenyans will not be persuaded by sideshows but purely on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s performance for the four year’s that he has been in office.

Speaking in Nairobi when he unveiled the party manifesto, he however, said the Opposition alliance has no intentions of reviving the issue if they take power in the August 8 election.

“There is no need for them to start panicking if they are sure they delivered on their promises. The government should instead tell Kenyans what they have done to promote accountability and curbing the high cost of living,” he said.

Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto this week alleged that the Opposition leaders plot to bring back the ICC cases and appealed to Nandi county residents to give them another five-year term in office.

ICC lawyer Anton Steynberg was reported as saying that the cases which were dropped because of lack of adequate evidence could be revisited by the prosecution if a new regime is in power.

Mudavadi accused the government of plundering public resources and inflating the cost of key projects such as the Standard Gauge Railways (SGR). In their manifesto, Mudavadi reiterated that they will introduce stringent anti-corruption code of conduct for both public and private sector to ensure Kenyans get value for money.

He said they will establish “Citizen Watch” groups to make complaints and report corrupt practices. Other measures that he proposed include the introduction of public declaration of wealth and banning public officers from doing business with government.
