The rift between Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and chairman David Musila widened yesterday following the outcome of Kitui county primaries whose results favoured the incumbent Julius Malombe.
Last evening Senator Musila claimed he defeated Malombe by more than 10,000 votes but was rigged out. He accused some top party officials of having a hand in his loss.
Final announcement
He said from the word go agents of the governor and hired goons who waylaid, intimidated and threatened election officials forcing them to declare Malombe the winner.
“If results from three key constituencies were missing during the final announcement from my strongholds, how come Malombe was declared the winner?” he asked, adding that he will consult with the people of Kitui on his next move. He said he won with 81,234 votes against Malombe’s 70,899.
