The Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe yesterday outlined integrity, ethics and professionalism as some of the accomplishments the Kenya Defence Forces(KDF) has accomplished in the past decade.
Speaking during a pass out parade at Lanet in Nakuru, Mwathethe (pictured) said KDF had embarked in transforming the military by introducing development skills in leadership to help mould an all-round person.
“The curriculum offered to the recruits is broken down into leadership skills apart from the military training we had so as to help mould an all-round person,” he said.
He attributed the success of the KDF missions in Somalia and the peace-keeping operations with the UN to the government and the people of Kenya saying by their support and goodwill they had been able to thrive.
The colourful ceremony saw more than 60 special duty officers from the Army take an Oath of Allegiance to defend the country after undergoing a period of rigorous Basic Military Training.
Mwathethe also awarded trophies to recruit Anthony Kimanzi, Jane Oluoch, Geoffrey Shanza and Janice Ngugi for best recruit.
In his speech, he congratulated the soldiers for their exemplary performance during training assuring.
“I would like to congratulate the soldiers for their performance and the President has assured the Army of the government’s commitment,” said Mwathethe.
