Four students of Itierio Boys’ High School in Kisii county were yesterday arrested after they attempted to torch a dormitory, a month after seven of the institution’s dorms were burnt.
Kisii South sub-county Administration Police boss Chief Inspector Ngoja Mwero said three suspects were Form One students while the fourth was a Form Two, adding the incident occurred at around 11am.
In media statement, Mwero said two mattresses were burnt and the fire was put out before it spread to other dorms barely a week after students who were sent home after the first incident returned.
He said security officers have launched investigations to unearth the cause of the fire and have intensified patrols at the school to thwart any attempt to burn the school, adding calm has been restored. Last month, Itierio students burnt several dorms.
