Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has said the establishment of the Multi Agency Team (MAT) to fight corruption has helped reduce the vice.
He said the body, which brings together law enforcement and prosecution agencies, has been effective in the fight against crime and emerging economic crimes.
He said officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and his office had successfully investigated several high-profile cases some of which are in courts pending determination.

“Through this team, we currently have 146 high-profile cases out of which 51 related to the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission’s investigations regarding the presidential address to Parliament on 25th March this year,” said Tobiko.
Tobiko added that high profile matters such as the NYS scandal, Euro Bond and contraband sugar imports have been investigated faster due to the combined efforts of the team.
“Working together for a common purpose is the operational ethos of these institutions,” he said when he opened a training and capacity building workshop for county multi agency team in Naivasha.
