A terror suspect deported from Sierra Leone to Kenya was yesterday arraigned in a Nairobi court. Mohamud Mohamed Nur Maalim was arrested in Sierra Leone on March 16 as he entered the country from Liberia following intelligence reports that he was engaging in terrorism activities in the two countries.
According to Anti-Terrorism Police Unit, Maalim was arrested with electronics gadgets including mobile phones and a laptop which have been forwarded to forensic lab and may take time to get a report.
Through investigating officer Corporal Cyrus Ikade, police claim since May 13, when Maalim was handed over to Kenyan authorities, ATPU has not been able to conduct in-depth investigations. Trial magistrate Martha Mutuku granted them 10 days and directed that he be remanded at Muthaiga Police Station as requested by ATPU.
