Less than two months to the General Election, Nakuru county public service board has embarked on hiring workers in an exercise that has been termed as illegal and unfair.
Already, the county has hired 130 enforcement officers who will on Friday next week report to Kiganjo for specialised training on security.
The move has irked casual workers some of whom have worked for the county government for more than 15 years saying they have been overlooked in the exercise.
Contacted on phone, the county Secretary Joseph Motari confirmed the hiring had been going on and pointed an accusing finger at the public board. He said that the board was an autonomous institution, adding that neither him nor governor Kinuthia Mbugua had the powers to stop it.
