A former Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) treasurer yesterday linked secretary general Francis Atwoli to alleged Sh115.5 million loss.
Cornel Ogutu, while giving his defence evidence before Milimani senior principal magistrate Peter Ooko, said Atwoli was aware of the funds which were to cater for HIV/Aids and child labour awareness campaign in the organistaion.
“I was called by Atwoli informing me that Sh2,936,000 had arrived and had been wired to Cotu general account. He advised we open a new account where the money would be deposited,” he said.
Ogutu is charged alongside project co-ordinator Milicent Ngeso for allegedly stealing Sh115 million purporting to have been authorised by Cotu accounts signatories. The hearing was adjourned to September 27 when Ngeso will give her evidence. -NANCY GITONGA
