Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has given the clearest indication yet that National Super Alliance (Nasa) flag bearer Raila Odinga would be a one-term President if he wins the August, 8 elections after which the former Vice-President would take the mantle.
Kalonzo said Wiper supports the decision announced last week and described Nasa flag bearer, Raila Odinga, as a “transitional leader of five years”.
This is the second time that Kalonzo will be supporting Raila, despite having firmly indicated earlier that it was his time to be backed and even went ahead to present his presidential nomination papers to Wiper.
In 2013, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed indicating that Kalonzo supports Raila and that the latter returns the favour in this year’s General Election.
Kalonzo made his remarks yesterday even as he came to the defence of National Assembly Leader of Minority Francis Nyenze saying he has received negative media attention because of strongly standing with what he believes in, besides being entitled to his opinion.
Kalonzo said many people were hurt in the process of picking the top Nasa leadership but urged their supporters to stand by that decision. Nyenze yesterday announced that he has changed his position after earlier stating that Wiper Party got a raw deal after Nasa named Raila as the presidential flag bearer instead of Kalonzo.
