National Rainbow Coalition (Narc) leader Charity Ngilu has thrown her weight behind Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in his designated Deputy President position in Nasa.

Ngilu, a former political foe and critic of Musyoka, urged members of the Kamba community to vote as a bloc in the August 8 General Election for Nasa and fully support the former Vice President as one of their own.

She said the community will not switch allegiance because Kalonzo was not chosen the flag bearer. “We will offer unflinching support to Musyoka who negotiated and settled for the Deputy President position.

We shall be in the next government which is a big win for the community,” she said. In the run-up to the announcement of Raila as a flag bearer various Kamba leaders were vocal that only a Musyoka Nasa presidential ticket was acceptable.

Conflicting reports emerged from Wiper camp with dissenting voices led by minority leader Francis Nyenze over the Raila Odinga candidature. They wanted the ODM leader to step down for Kalonzo, saying the Wiper leader had done so for Odinga in the 2013 polls. However, Ngilu said the second-in-command position is also welcome.
