Any transfer, registration of vehicles and application for driving licences will be done through an online Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS), transport safety agency has said.
Speaking in Nakuru town after meeting matatu owners and operators, National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) deputy director of licensing John Muia called upon stakeholders in transport sector to embrace and understand the system for easy transactions.
He also said the agency was in the process of starting the provision of smart driving licences which will capture all details of the holder and show disciplinary cases, points among other aspects.
The move was welcomed by the Central Rift PSV Sacco chairman Stephen Muli saying the process was long overdue. He said they have been wasting a lot of time travelling to Nairobi to access those services and urged NTSA to make the process a success to increase efficiency in the transport sector.
