National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka took their campaigns to Meru county with message that the coalition will unite all Kenyans, who they claimed have been divided along tribal lines under the Jubilee leadership.

They said their coalition stands for an inclusive government and that is why had they — Raila (ODM), Kalonzo (Wiper), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) and Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress) — have joined hands for the sake of the country’s unity.

“Nasa is looking forward for a developed and united Kenya that is not divided for political interests,” said Raila.

Earlier, the Nasa principals were forced to change route after a group of hostile youths barricaded with stones the entrance to the Meru main bus terminus as they sung pro- Jubilee songs.

The group told them to keep off the bus terminus saying they only welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta, who they vowed to back to win the August election.

The hostility came only a day after Meru MPs urged leaders and Meru leaders to welcome the Opposition leaders to hunt for votes peacefully.

North Imenti MP Rahim Dawood and his Imenti Central counterpart Mwiti Irea urged the local politicians and residents to accord the Opposition respect as they tour Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties.

“Every politician has got a right to tour any part of this country to seek votes and nobody should disrupt anyone meeting because every politician is allowed to exercise is or her democratic rights,” said Dawood.

The ODM leader, however, said he had no grudge with President Uhuru Kenyatta but blamed him for failing to deliver his 2013 election campaign pledges to Kenyans.

“I don’t have problem with President Uhuru at all, but I only blame him for failing to deliver his development promises and fight corruption,” he said. Raila accused the Jubilee administration of failing to fight corruption that has led to economic crisis in the country.

“We have witnessed massive corruption such as Euro bond saga, National Youth Service (NYS) Saga, and many others and despite blowing the whistle, the government has done very little to prosecute the culprits,” added the former premier.

He at the same time accused the government of dragging its feet to end the miraa ban to uplift the livelihoods of farmers. Kalonzo expressed confidence that they will form the next government.

The two principals accompanied by MPS John Mbadi (Suba)Simba Arati (Dagoretti North) Junet Muhamend (Suna) and Gladys Wanga, Homa Bay Women’s Rep spoke at Makutano and Meru town where they accused the Jubilee Party of fueling tribalism ahead of the General Election.

Kaonzo said the miraa ban to UK and the recent tax hike to the product has added more predicaments to the miraa farmers adding the Miraa tax force should be sent home saying the committee has done nothing to save the farmers despite the huge fund allocation from the sh.1 billion government kitty.
