Kenya Union of Clinical officers (KUCO) has suspended its strike for two weeks to pave way for dialogue. The clinicians were to take industrial action from this Monday, a move that would have paralysed operations in all public health centre across the country given that doctors are already on strike.
Led by the national Secretary-General George Gibore, KUCO made the announcement after meeting with Council of Governors (CoG) in Nairobi on Friday.
The meeting resolved to set a task force committee to look into the grievances within the next 14 days. "We want to make it clear that we have suspended our nationwide strike which was supposed to take place from Monday next week to give the task force we have formed a chance to address the issues we have raised," said Gibore.
This is the second time the clinicians have suspended the industrial action, having previously done so on one that was to take place on December 12 , 2016.
