Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu obtained a reprieve yesterday after the High Court dismissed a suit filed against him by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo challenging his academic credentials. Justice Joseph Onguto dismissed the application stating that the Court has no jurisdiction to hear matters pertaining to leadership and integrity.
According to the Judge, there are institutions in place mandated under the law to deal with the issues raised in the petition. “The issues raised by the petitioner are matters that are not within the court’s jurisdiction, I therefore dismiss the application with cost to the petitioner,” he ruled.
Kabogo had moved to court to challenge academic qualifications of Waititu. In his suit, Kabogo claimed that Waititu was unqualified to hold public office as he does not have any qualification past primary school education.
Kabogo had claimed that he is an alumni of Punjab University and was surprised by assertions of Waititu that he was in the same university and had earned a degree.
