High Court Advocate Patrick Onyango Ogolla was yesterday finally charged in a Nairobi court with 15 counts of money laundering in the Sh791 million National Youth Service scam.
The lawyer, who appeared before Milimani senior principal magistrate Joyce Gandani, was also charged alongside the mother of Ben Gethi, who is the alleged mastermind of the scandal. Ogolla took plea after their several attempts to block their prosecution were blocked by the High Court.
He denied the charges and was released on Sh300,000 cash bail or Sh1 million bond. According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly colluded to wire the Sh791 million out of NYS coffers and used part of it to purchase property they later concealed under phony firm names. The case will be mentioned on September 22.
