A Meru-based nurse whose body was found dumped in a thicket at Salama off Mombasa-Nairobi highway in Makueni county was strangled, an autopsy report has showed. Shock and grief gripped relatives of Job Nabuya who had gathered at Machakos Level Five Hospital mortuary waiting the postmortem results.
Sources at the mortuary said Nabuya’s body was found with a rope around his neck, with injuries on the neck and legs, indicating he was also tortured before being killed.
The autopsy report also revealed that the deceased’s lungs had been suffocated, a clear indication of strangulation. The 27-year-old Nabuya, who was based at Meru Mission Hospital, went missing a week ago, and is said to have been lured to Nairobi by a woman.
The family urged the government to hasten investigations into Nabuya’s killing and ensure justice is served. “Our only plea to the government is to get to the bottom of this matter because it seems all key suspects linked to the crime have been arrested,” said Julius Omariba, the victim’s father. Five suspects, among them three police officers and a taxi operator have been arrested in connection to the killing.
