Deputy President William Ruto is in Abidjan, Ivory Coast to represent President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Africa CEO Forum. Speaking on arrival at the Felix Houphoute Boiny International Airport, Ruto said the conference provided an important platform for African governments to engage with the private sector in growing their economies and reducing poverty on the continent.
“The forum will make it easier to understand the issues faced by the private sector which are engines of growth in the continent,” he said.
Ruto said high economic growth has been evident in countries where governments have successfully collaborated with the private sector, adding that it is imperative to encourage such interaction as one way of sustaining that growth.
He will be a keynote speaker at the forum that seeks to find solutions to the global economic challenges that put average economic growth in Africa at 3.75 per cent in 2015 after a decade of accelerated growth.
The panel will decode the near term implications of the new macro-economic reality for African countries and businesses emphasising on macro-economic discipline, real structural reforms and bold industrialisation policies.
