Former Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service Francis Kimemia has declared he will be vying for the Nyandarua governor seat.
Kimemia, who was last week appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to chair the Industrial Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC) board, said he will quit the position next year in readiness for campaigns.
He will be seeking to unseat governor Daniel Waithaka who has had a torrid term having differed with his deputy Mwangi Waithaka who is also interested in the seat.
Speaking at Engineer AIPCEA Church yesterday, Kimemia thanked Uhuru for according him another chance to serve the public, saying he is ready to deliver.
“But next year, I will relinquish the position to concentrate on the gubernatorial fight which I am confident of clinching,”he said.
Once a powerful figure in the Coalition government of retired President Kibaki and PM Raila Odinga and later in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime, Kimemia has maintained a low profile since leaving office last year.
