Luhya leaders yesterday intensified demands for thorough investigations into the murder of controversial businessman Jacob Juma. Community elders also said they will conduct traditional rites before burial “to curse those behind his death”.
Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi, senators Boni Khalwale (Kakamega), George Khaniri (Vihiga), MPs Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani), Alfred Agoi (Sabatia), Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo) and former MP Cyrus Jirongo said they were convinced that Juma was assassinated.
Shinali and Wangwe, who are allied to the Jubilee administration, said they would reassess their relationship with the government if the mystery surrounding Juma’s death is not resolved.
“He stood up against injustice and corruption and fought for the rights of poor Kenyans,” said Mudavadi. They said it is worrying that killer gangs are on the rise.
