Deputy president William Ruto now says the government will re-introduce the gender bill that was shot down by members of parliament Thursday afternoon, terming the incident unfortunate.
Ruto said it was a shame the bill flopped vowing to marshal support across the political divide to ensure women were given opportunities to participate in leadership. The bill which needed 233 votes to sail through garnered only 178 votes with most male MPs boycotting the session.
