Deputy President William Ruto has filed a case at the International Criminal Court (ICC) seeking to have the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) compelled to appoint an amicus prosecutor to investigate her witnesses, intermediaries and others who breached administration of justice in his case.
Through lawyer Karim Khan, the DP claimed there was enough evidence to prove that prosecution witnesses deliberately gave false testimony against him and OTP intermediaries tampered and interfered with collection of evidence by identifying and coaching witnesses to give false testimony in his case.
The development comes barely a month after the ICC dropped crimes against humanity charges against Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang. In particular, Ruto lawyers cited witnesses P-0356, P-0409,P-0613 and P-0800 as those that gave false accounts, while he claims OTP intermediaries conspired with witnesses P-0613 and P-0800.
