The High Court has directed a case in which former Wananchi Group CEO Richard Alden (pictured) is accused of murdering his girlfriend to be heard continuously from August 25.
Lady Justice Jessie Lessit fixed the hearing dates after defence lawyer Pravin Bowry told the court that he is ready to proceed with the trial since his client wants the matter heard expeditiously.
The case was first set for hearing last week but it could not proceed since the judge was attending a Judicial forum in Mombasa. The case was directed to go for full hearing after the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko rejected an out-of-court settlement.
Alden, 54, is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Grace Wangechi Kinyanjui at his Karen home in Nairobi. He is out on a cash bail of Sh1 million.
