Four Cabinet secretaries have said they will not desist from outlining development milestones achieved by the Jubilee government. This is after the Opposition threatened to take them to court for allegedly campaigning for the Jubilee Party.
James Macharia (Transport), Mwangi Kiunjuri (Planning and Devolution), Eugene Wamalwa (Water and Irrigation) and Fred Matiang’i (Education) dared the Opposition to take them to court over the allegations, saying they have not breached any law.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga called for the prosecution of the Cabinet secretaries, claiming they were deliberately misleading Kenyans on development matters.
Speaking in Murang’a at the weekend, the trio said the Opposition is jealous of what the Jubilee government has achieved during its first term. They said the projects being initiated across the country are implemented using the taxpayers’ money thus the need to outline them for the public to know the status of development.
They said the Opposition is developing cold feet as the August poll approaches after sensing defeat. Macharia said while it is the responsibility of every Cabinet Secretary to make sure they deliver their mandate, they are also obliged to explain to the public the milestones achieved.
“We shall continue telling Kenyans what the government has done whether the Opposition likes it or not,” he said. Kiunjuri, who echoed the same sentiments said the Opposition spends a lot of time spreading lies and propaganda about the government to discredit President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto in the eyes of the public. Wamalwa said CSs are not in breach of any law.
And speaking in Kisii, Matiang’i also accused the Nasa team of peddling rumours and propaganda that the Kisii community was not included in the Jubilee government.
Speaking during a funds drive in Kitutu Masaba constituency, Matiang’i paraded civil servants from the community serving the national government to counter claims by Nasa leaders that the community is not accommodated by the government.
