Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama had a difficult time on Friday calming residents who were demanding unga instead of soda he had offered.
The governor, who was delivering bursary fund of Sh20 million to more than 2,000 needy children across Borabu constituency, had to contend with shouts of ‘Unga’ from the crowd who say the subsidised commodity is yet to reach the county.
“There is another day for what you are requesting because I understand these are tough times,” he pleaded as residents said the only supermarket stocking the Sh90 unga was constantly out of stock.
Nyagarama promised to turn around the county’s agricultural production to new high-levels and making the devolved unit food-secure if they re-elect him in the August polls. He also promised to raise the amount the lowest beneficiary of the fund receives from Sh5,000 to Sh10,000.
