A nine-year-old girl in Gitare, Gilgil is seeking justice after she was allegedly defiled by her step father who is still free even after the matter was reported to the police in February.
The Class Four pupil said her step father forced her into bed in their one-room house in Nairobi and defiled her repeatedly and threatened her should she ever reveal the incident. The man also ordered her to take a shower after the ordeal, she said.
The minor, who now lives with her sickly grandmother, said she was terrified to tell anyone of her father's act because of his threats. "I did not tell anyone of my predicaments for a while since I did not want to die as my father had threatened," she said.
According to her grandmother, they had reported the matter at Githiria Police Post in Nairobi but no action has been taken. "The minor was living with her mother and the step father in Nairobi but after she revealed the ordeal to her mother, I took her into my custody for her safety.
I wonder how a grown up man and a father can turn against his child," she said She said the minor has since resumed school but has not been unable to relate well with other pupils because of trauma.
"She is scared and is yet to come to terms with what happened to her," she said. She called upon the Inspector General of Police to intervene, saying the man may have bribed the police to avoid arrest.
