National Rainbow Coalition Kenya (Narc-Kenya) party has said it is only supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid but has not entered into a formal relationship with the ruling Jubilee Party.

Speaking at Narc-Kenya headquarters in Nairobi yesterday, party leader Martha Karua yesterday affirmed that her party will engage in a supremacy battle with Jubilee at the grassroots.

“We have no formal relationship with the Jubilee Party and we are promising them to expect a “vigorous friendly fire” from Senate, Governor, Women’s Representative, MP and MCA seats. It is good to clarify that we are only supporting the President’s re-election bid,” she said.

Karua, who presided over the issuance of nomination certificates to aspirants eyeing for various elective posts, pledged that her party members will conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the August 8 General Election.

She called on Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and other top government agencies to enforce the law and ensure there are no malpractices in the polls.

“Enforcement of the Law is the key to eradicating impunity. It is unfortunate that there were few incidents of thuggery during the nominations held by the two protagonists Nasa and Jubilee. Heavy penalties should be enforced on those who do not adhere to sanctity to elections,” said the Kirinyaga governor seat hopeful.
