Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Deputy President William Ruto’s personal aide Farouk Kibet are today expected to record a statement at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over their involvement in the Sh791m National Youth Service (NYS) scam.
The two were adversely mentioned by former Devolution Cabinet secretary Anne Waiguru who alleged that they threatened her against launching investigations into the loss.
Waiguru while responding to an affidavit by businesswoman Josephine Kabura’s, who was a key suspect in the theft, said Murkomen told her to tell the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to drop the investigations into the scandal or “face unspecified consequences”.
The former Devolution CS claimed the political leaders linked her to the scandal after she insisted the matter be concluded. The affidavit filed by Waiguru also named National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale to the saga that threaten to split the ruling coalition. She also claimed that Ben Gethi, who is facing a number of criminal charges in relation to the scandal, paid Kibet part of the money he got from NYS.
