Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has allayed fears concerning the credibility of ODM party primaries.
Orange aspirants in Nairobi had expressed concerned amid widespread fears the party nominations, slated for April 25, will not be free and fair.
However, Kidero assured them they will have a fair shot at the party’s ticket in the nominations. “We will ensure free and fair primaries to prevent walkout of candidates after the exercise. Every aspirant will be treated equally,”he said.
The governor who is the party pointman and head of campaigns in the city and Nairobi branch chairman George Aladwa said the party has set targets and put in place strategies to outdo Jubilee.
“We have to be smart in strategy to outdo Jubilee in the capital,” said the governor, when he addressed ODM aspirants.
“We have to clinch 13 out of the 17 seats in the city. In the last General Election will only secured eight and lost six seats because we fielded many candidates under different parties,” said Kidero, adding that there are “safe seats” in the city where the Opposition is assured of winning.
Kidero said the National Super Alliance team of Nairobi region has developed elaborate strategies that will facilitate collaboration before and after the primaries to ensure the coalition scoops majority seats.
“We have set up a team that will see us deliver the majority of seats, starting from MCAs to governor and the President,” he said.
