Two Principal secretaries have found out, albeit belatedly, that disagreements with your Cabinet secretary may not be good for your career health because you are likely to be banished to a waterless wilderness.
After unhealthy relations with Cabinet secretary Cleopa Mailu over the 100-day doctors’ strike, Principal secretary Nicholas Muraguri was clobbered in Friday’s reshuffle where President Uhuru Kenyatta moved 12 Principal secretaries to new work stations.
Muraguri will be licking his wounds at the Lands ministry where he landed while his place will be taken by Julius Korir, who has been at the Industry and Enterprise Development Ministry.
Patrick Nduati Mwangi, the Water PS who has been involved in a row with his boss Cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa over the Thwake Dam tender has also been blown out of the water.
The thoroughly thwacked PS has been moved to the Ministry of Industry and Enterprise Development. The PS was accused of defying Wamalwa by awarding the contract for the construction of the dam to the second lowest bidder Sino Hydro instead of the lowest bidder— China Gezhouba Construction Group Corporation.
Others caught in the Muraguri-Mwangi snare include Peter Kaberia of Defence who has been moved to Sports Development, Paul Mwangi who moves from Public Works to Transport while Richard Ekai takes over at Correctional Services from Sports Development.
Transport PS Irungu Nyakera will now be in charge of Planning and Statistics, Devolution PS Mwanamaka Mabruki is the new PS for Gender Affairs while Zeinab Hussein moves to Water and Irrigation.
Saitoti Torome takes over at Defence, Micah Powon moves from the Correctional Services to Devolution while Lands PS Mariam el Maawy moves to Public Works.
The changes, according to State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu, are aimed at improving efficiency of serve delivery and to enhance teamwork.
