Jubilee Party (JP) secretary general Raphael Tuju yesterday warned that perpetrators of chaotic scenes witnessed during the County Elections Board in Nakuru, Murang’a, Nairobi and Kirinyaga could be disqualified from the nomination process.
He announced it had started investigations to nail those who were behind the chaotic events.
JP’s disciplinary committee will sit today to study evidence before it narrows down to the perpetrators, and to determine what type of punishment will be meted on them.
Tuju said disciplinary action would be narrowed down to aspirants, warning that they may face disqualification from her nomination processes.
“Any aspirant found culpable could face dire consequences including disqualification from the party nomination process,” said Tuju.
Last week, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko Mbuvi, also a gubernatorial aspirant, was accused of disrupting the party’s selection process when his supporters clashed with those of his political rival, Peter Kenneth. He said the party has referred all disciplinary cases to the disciplinary committee.
Tuju warned aspirants who intimidate the party staff at its headquarters of similar actions.
He was referring to the incident at Bomas of Kenya where supporters of the two Jubilee rivals clashed destroying property.
