The Health ministry has urged the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board (KPPB) to resolve consistent wrangles in the institution in order to respond to the needs of the public effectively.
Following a two-year court battle, Health Cabinet secretary Cleopa Mailu yesterday inaugurated a new board that constitutes eight members to be chaired by the Director of Medical Services Dr Jackson Kioko.
Those appointed include Kipkerich Koskei (chief pharmacist), Kisa Juma (director of veterinary services), Alfred Rugendo, Mary Kisingu, Rogers Atebe, Edith Wakori and Omar Jama.
It also comprises of a representative from the University of Nairobi’s Department of Pharmacy and a pharmaceutical technologist. The CS told KPPB to come up with a structure to distinguish the roles of the management and that of the board to avoid clashes.
