Tension remains high in Baringo County after five people including two women were killed and several houses burnt following fresh flare ups of violence in the volatile region.
The two women were killed after armed bandits opened fire on a police vehicle in which they had hiked a lift Tuesday morning made at Mukutani area of Tiaty constituency.
The two women were on their way to Kabarnet town to withdraw money for orphans, when the bandits struck in a suspected retaliatory attack following a cattle rustling incident that left 3 people dead last evening.
A child who was in the company of the women survived the ordeal and is in the custody of the police.
And as Joy Kiruki Juma now reports Mukutani area is currently under siege it was surrounded by raiders seeking to avenge an attack by a rival community.
