Lands and Housing Cabinet Secretary, Prof Jacob Kaimenyi.

Lands and Housing Cabinet Secretary, Prof Jacob Kaimenyi will today deploy the first of the 15 groups under the National Titling Programme, a new plan to upscale the issuance of title deeds. The 15 groups are tasked with the mapping and surveying of land across the country.

The government has identified eight zones with the highest needs. It is expected that at the end of the new programme, the government would have issued 4.2 million title deeds by the end of 2017. “By the end of this year alone, we hope to have issued an estimated 1.2 million title deeds and look forward to upscale this programme in 2017.

This would definitely by-pass the government’s promise to issue three million title deeds by end of 2017,” said Kaimenyi who was addressing ministry staff in Nairobi yesterday. Valued at Sh2 billion, the exercise will involve surveying of parcels of land held by settlement schemes cooperative societies, community land, public utilities, and market places among others.
