Three police officers were injured in a suspected Al Shabaab attack on Diif town, Wajir South last night.
Its alleged that the Somali-based militia struck at 11 o’clock in the evening and exchanged heavy gun fire with police officers who were manning the town.
Wajir county commissioner Francis Ole Tielal who confirmed the incident claims that the police officers who were aware of the impeding attack battled with the Islamist Group for a span of 6 hours and overpowered them.
The militia managed to burn down 4 shops including that of the area Chief Hussein Omar and fled the scene in a stolen police land-cruiser at around five o’clock this morning.
Its reported that the Kenya Defense Forces soldiers in search of the men have managed to locate the group at a radius of 20 kilometers off the town.
Tension is still high in Diif town.
