University of Nairobi student leadership has urged Education Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i to rescind a directive on surrender of Kenya Science Campus premises to Kenya Technical Trainers College.
Student representatives said it was unfair to ask the campus of more than 1,000 students to move without any consultation or prior notice.
“It is absurd to compress campuses instead of expanding them without as much as a memo from the administration or student union on such short notice,” said Student Representative Ronny Ayumba.
The students threatened to disrupt Friday’s graduation and take to the streets to protest the relocation order. “We will not allow the closure or the surrender of the school because we cannot just be relocated on a whim,” he said.
