Bad weather forced President Uhuru Kenyatta to cancel the planned visit to Western Kenya, State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu has said. The Head of State was due to travel to Busia county for the funeral of Malcolm Mwanga, the son of legislator Paul Otuoma.
“Due to poor weather conditions, the President could not make the trip. The President has spoken to the MP to express his condolences, and to reassure him that his thoughts and prayers are with Otuoma and his family at this most difficult time,” said Esipisu.
President Uhuru was expected to share a podium with Cord leader Raila Odinga who too skipped the event for unexplained reasons. “The security team advised the President could not fly because of the weather,” he said. Uhuru was also scheduled to grace the inaugural graduation at Kibabii University, where he is the Chancellor.
