Former Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) board member and a parliamentary aspirant for Ruaraka constituency, Jim Ayungo was yesterday arraigned in a Nairobi court charged with incitement to violence.

He, however, did not take plea after the Flying Squad Unit brought him under a miscellaneous application to detain him for three days to allow the prosecution complete investigations.

In an affidavit by the investigating officer, Josephat Chebon, the detectives received information on November 15, that the accused was inciting residents in Lucky Summer area in Nairobi.

Ayungo circulated a video clip on social media swearing to lead the youth to protest if the 2017 election is rigged. Senior principal magistrate Benson Nzakyo released Ayungo on a Sh100,000 cash bail on the basis that the investigating officer had not presented to court compelling reasons to warrant his detention.

He further directed him to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters when and at the time called upon to aid in the investigations.
