Public Service Commission (PSC) has now been urged to move with speed and conclude negotiations pending before them and the Union of Kenya Civil Servants.
Trade Union Congress general secretary Wilson Sossion said the signing of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) should be done before November 30 to allow sufficient time for Treasury to include the proposals in the forthcoming mid-term financial plan.
Speaking during a press conference yesterday, he said the implementation of the CBA would help in harmonisation of the salaries of all civil servants with the proposed salaries for teachers.
“The philosophy of equal pay for equal work must be applied across board to reduce the existing inequality in salaries between the lowest and the highest paid civil servants,” he said yesterday.
He also urged public universities to engage its affiliates, Universities Academic Staff Union (Uasu) and Kenya Universities Staff Union (Kusu).
