Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has raised the red flag over the manner in which President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election strategy is being managed and questioned the move to appoint political aspirants to lead the process.
Speaking to the People Daily yesterday, the legislator said the list announced by Deputy President William Ruto at the Jubilee Party National Governing Council at Bomas of Kenya auditorium last week “contained glaring anomalies.”
“Imagine they are also vying for various seats meaning we will not have a level playing field. They are getting undue advantage and this is not fair,” said the MP.
He particularly took issue with the appointment of Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika into the campaign team saying that she is not fit for the job.
“What Nakuru people needed is a unifying factor but we didn’t get that because obviously Speaker Kihika is a very divisive character and has little experience in national politics,” the MP said.
He said the announcement has been greeted with disquiet and distrust with many MPs now considering avenues of amending the law barring party hopping over fears of rigging in the party nominations.
