A tussle between matatu saccos in Murang'a has paralysed transport in various local routes in the last few days.
Passengers using Murang’a-Kahuro-Mugoiri and Murang’a-Kangema routes have been forced to seek alternative means of transport after the matatu operators downed their tools.
Muna Sacco, which plies Mugoiri-Nairobi route, claims their rivals belonging to Namu Shuttle have been operating without the TLB licence thus subjecting them to unhealthy competition.
Sacco chairman Peter Ruthi claimed their rivals have no picking bays, operate from the roadside, and do not observe the traffic rules.
