A Member of the Kisumu County Assembly (MCA) on Thursday escaped death by a whisker when he was attacked by youth.
Kasule Ward MCA Calvince Oraro was attacked with a knife and a hammer but escaped being stabbed after hawk-eyed County security officers grabbed the knife as the young men descended on him with kicks and blows.
Armed with crude weapons, the youth, positioned themselves in the corridors of the finance department at the County administration block where they waylaid the MCA.
The youth said they were tired of the persistent interference by some of the MCAs who allegedly kept interfering with the outcomes of the tendering processes in favour of their cronies.
They accused Oraro of subjecting them to unnecessary competition for the few jobs in the county instead of focusing on lawmaking at the assembly.
