Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has once again performed a political twist and abandoned the newly formed Jubilee Party and joined the Musalia Mudavadi-led Amani National Congress (ANC).
The governor beat a hasty retreat on Monday decamping from the new kid on the block, barely weeks since he ditched the United Democratic Front (UDF) to embrace President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto political outfit.
“My preferred vehicle for re-election in next year’s August 2017 poll is ANC and no longer am I interested in joining Jubilee or Cord,” Timamy said as he addressed residents at Mwana Arafa Hotel during an education event.
“Through consultations with ANC and a lot of deliberations with political confidantes, the party seemed ideal and in line with my grievances for the people of Lamu as I seek their mandate once again for the gubernatorial seat,” he said.
