Three women suspected of being Alshabaab militants were killed after they launched an attack on a police station in the Coastal city of Mombasa on Sunday morning. The women had concealed a knife and a Petrol Bomb under their traditional robes but were shot dead by police.
Reports indicate that the women walked into the station pretending to report a stolen phone, before stabbing one of the officers at the reporting desk and later hurling a petrol bomb, all in an attempt to free some prisoners being held at the police station.
Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa and Governor Hassan Joho condemned the attack and called for calm as investigations into the attack are carried out.
K24's Eric Njoka reports on the attack that has left two police officers seriously wounded in an incident coming on a day the world commemorated the United States 9/11 Al Qaeda terror attacks.
