Cord leader Raila Odinga embarks on a five-day tour of Kakamega county starting tomorrow to popularise his presidential bid in the next General Election and to recoup a fledgling ODM support in the region.
The tour will take Raila to at least nine constituencies not covered during his last visit of Busia, Vihiga and Kakamega counties.
Raila begins his campaign with rallies in Khwisero and Butere constituencies tomorrow before moving to Shinyalu and Ikolomani constituencies on Tuesday.
The campaign schedule indicates that Raila will visit and address rallies in Lurambi and Navakholo constituencies on Wednesday before embarking on a long-day tour of Malava on Thursday.
He will wrap up the campaign tour with rallies in Lugari and Likuyani on Friday.
The Opposition leader’s last visit to the region was marred by pockets of resistance and violence, particularly in Budalang’i and Funyula the birth place of former ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba and Paul Otuoma respectively, who have since resigned from their positions.
His coalition principal Moses Wetang’ula (Ford-K leader), took a swipe at Raila for allegedly sneaking into his Western political stronghold.
Similar resistance was reported in Matungu and Mumias East constituencies.
