56 year old Supreme Court Judge Smoking Wanjala became the sixth candidate to be interviewed for the position of Chief Justice.
Wanjala one of the youngest applicants for the position expressed concern over the level of criticism judges face after delivering judgments on an array of matters, singling out the 2013 Presidential Election petition lodged by CORD leader Raila Odinga against Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta.
He at the same time dismissed the notion that there were cartels in the judiciary threatening judges and influencing rulings, saying he had heard of them but did not take the claims seriously.
Wanjala at the same time proposed that the Supreme Court handles specific matters, saying they have in the past been forced to dismiss 80 percent of cases brought before them, for lacking the threshold to be heard at the Apex court.
